Disney Tips
Want to shop at the Disney store this holiday season? You can, just don't pay full price..
If you do shop online, use the code SHIP89 to get free shipping when you spend $89. It expires on 12/17.
Speaking of seasons, I try to shop just after a season or a holiday as often as possible, when I shop the regular non-outlet Disney Store. Merchandise gets marked down pretty quickly, so I can get some good deals. In the case of my kids, I stock up on next year’s sizes.

DIY Twilight Tees
Scores of fans donned "Twilight"-inspired T-shirts -- some homemade with phrases like "Take your shirt off, Jacob" or "Be my lion, Edward" scrawled with markers. There were fan buttons on jackets and caps. Key chains. Posters. Even "Twilight" panties were being circulated. The uninitiated had the option of purchasing merchandise inside: shirt, $20; tote bag, $18; poster, $8.

Junk to Art
On Nov. 6 in room 466 there was an array of art happening. The theme was altering old t-shirts. Many shirts that seemed useless were being turned into wearable pieces of art. This was just one of the many Junk to Art events happening at PJC.
“We thought we would have to say to bring only ‘clean’ trash, but some of the best pieces came from un-clean trash. It doesn’t have to always be ‘clean’ trash. We only ask that you not bring large items, like vacuums.”
If you would like to be a part of this showing, or get involved with Junk to Art in any way, contact Jennifer O’Leary, joleary@pjc.edu, 484-1434.
Eco Friendly Tees
It seems like the two arenas of environment and fashion are clashing more than ever these days.
When Paul Towle talks about his future plans for the Green Fashion Line, the T-shirt distribution company that he founded last year, he makes a brief reference to the tenets of a traditional business plan: turn a profit, expand the business, and so on. Then he gets to the part that he really cares about.
Towle said the most popular shirt so far has been the men’s fitted short-sleeve design. GFL also offers whole-sale purchasing.
Besides the environmental benefits, Towle also believes in having a positive effect on the community.
“Business should always be meeting a social need, that’s what I think,” he said.

Where do the losers go?
Don’t be surprised to see people wearing erroneous T-shirts calling the Philadelphia Phillies the 2009 World Series Champions on your next trip to Zambia or El Salvador.
The Phillies World Series loss will be the underprivileged’s gain as the World Vision humanitarian group gets ready to distribute the unsalable sportswear from the 2009 World Series.

Music + Sports T-Shirt Culture
This is cool. Opposing culture in music and sports, with more similarities than you may think:
One time the Grateful Dead were in town, and the Eagles - the football team, not the band - had to walk through a bunch of tailgating Deadheads on the way to practice on the grass fields outside Veterans Stadium.
A few hours later, an offensive lineman named Bob Landsee stood in line at a South Philly sandwich shop behind a few laid-back fellows in tie-dyed T-shirts.
"Those guys need to get a life," Landsee reported later.
True story.
One time the Rolling Stones were in town, and somebody asked Eagles coach Dick Vermeil about the world's greatest rock-and-roll band.
Vermeil said he wasn't too familiar with Mick and Keith and the boys, but that his children "liked their magazine."
True story.

New Twilight Tees
Who is excited?
For the fashionista fan
Borders is offering four exclusive "New Moon" T-shirts. The "love trio" T-shirt features images of Bella, Jacob and Edward on a rich brown background. Also available are shirts that include individual images of Edward and Jacob, both of which are available in black. The favorite among Borders' staff is a silky thin T-shirt -- perfect for layering -- that depicts the "Wolf Pack" tattoo Jacob sports in the movie, superimposed on a background that cascades in color from gold to chocolate brown. There's also a knit "Wolf Pack" tattoo hoodie just right for cool nights and temperate days. And, for "Twilight"-inspired dreams, there's the "Wolf Pack" tattoo pajamas in soft 100 percent cotton. Both the hoodie and the pajamas are also Borders exclusives.

More Balloon Boy!
We've talked about his t-shirts before. The boy is now the star in a viral online video game. It begins in a balloon where he fights off falcons -- the bird kind -- and it ends in his parents' attic. After everygame, players can tweet scores to friends, or share the results on facebook.

Go Phillies
If you’re a Jimmy Rollins fan, the company has a “That’s How I J-Roll” design. There’s a Happ hour shirt with a martini for J.A. Happ fans and a shirt that declares “The Hunt for Red October II.”
The company is the creation of a Ben and Mark who say on the site: “We are two guys, just like you, that realized that we were no longer happy doing the daily grind living inside of a cubicle every day. So, after going over what makes us really happy, we realized we love two things: we love thinking of new ideas and we love to sell. … So come on in and invest in the future of two guys that are trying to make a living doing something they really enjoy.”

Did You Get Yours Yet?
If you recall, the opinionated Kanye told Taylor, once he rushed the stage, "Yo, Taylor. I'm really happy for you. I'ma let you finish......but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time." (See: MTV VMAs: Kanye is an idiot)
Visit the Just Jared store to pick up your "I'ma Let You Finish" t-shirt.

T-Shirts Can Pay, too!
The T-shirt reads "Caution: Educated African American Male." Kalief Rollins thinks it will be his next best-seller.
The 17-year-old from Carson, Calif., near Los Angeles, took home a $10,000 grand prize from the National Youth Entrepreneurship Competition this week for his business selling custom T-shirts with inspirational designs. Rollins competed against 27 finalists and 24,000 initial high school entrants for the award, given by the nonprofit Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.

This Car is made of..T-Shirts?
THIS looks like a Ferrari Formula1 car - but is made from £40,000 of designer clothing and goes at ZERO miles per hour.
The car is made from a staggering 1,999 items - including 1,682 t-shirts, 88 pairs of jeans, 64 pairs of shoes and 31 belts.
A team of eight people worked for five hours at the Puma store in Carnaby Street, London, to turn the pile of clothes into a model of Kimi Raikkonen's motor.
The wheels on the impressive car are made from water bottles, the wing mirror from sun glasses and the harness from a backpack.
Black jeans are used for the tyres and red t-shirts give the car its classic Ferrari color.

Hey Philly!
Although the owner of these blogs could care less about Philly sports, yours truly the journalist does.
Check this out:
The Eagles and Phillies are teaming up with a new t-shirt to help the Jefferson Breast Care Center.
The pro sports teams are joining forces to sell the t-shirts during the month of October, which is breast cancer awareness month.
Eagles president Joe Banner says the shirts sell for $20 each and all proceeds will go to the Jefferson Breast Care Center.
“The shirt is meant to be equally desirable to both men and women. It has the both the Phillies and Eagles logos and the Philadelphia skyline and the symbolic joining of those three to support this great cause.”
The shirts are available at each team's store at the games and on their websites.

Seen This T-Shirt?
This is kind of funny t-shirt news. You've already robbed a bank and gotten away with it. You've got money to get a new t-shirt, don't you?
On the other hand, the very distinctive t-shirt you wore the first time (Apparently manufactured by "Remember Me" T-Shirts: Helping people identify bank robbers for 25 years") is, it has to be conceded, your lucky t-shirt.
So yeah, if you're going to rob another bank, damn straight you're going to break out the shirt that worked the first time.
At least it's not one of our t-shirts...

A Disney Classic: What's yours?
In the late 1940’s and the beginning of 1950’s, following the popularity of Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse character, Sam Kantor founded Tropix Togs, a Miami-based t-shirt company which held the sole license to produce Mickey Mouse t-shirts. The playfulness of the pattern knew no age barriers and quickly become a classic ’statement’ t-shirt to the present day.

Unique T-Shirts (like ours)
It’s no secret that the economic crisis has made us more budget-conscious. We’re still reluctant to spend money on clothes and accessories, but certain things like t-shirts just need to be replaced when they look as if they’ve seen better days.
Before you head down to one of the chain retailers to buy something that makes you look like everyone else, check out Super 7, a small boutique in Japantown, which sells the funkiest, most eye-catching T-shirts I have seen in a very long time.

10 Typography Tees
For those of you who love their dictionary definitions – I’m guessing that’s a fair few of you since graphic designers and typographers do have a tendency to be anally retentive, myself included – Typography is the art and technique of arranging type, type design and modifying type glyphs. The arrangement of type involves the selection of typefaces, point size, line length, leading (line spacing), adjusting the spaces between groups of letters (tracking) and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kerning).Check out the rest here.
